Identity

The world needs internet friendly Identity

More and more online services are requiring ID checks - ranging from simple age checks, name validation and full fledged KYC. And they all collect and store all your documents - breaching privacy, and becoming a target for hackers. Purists would also argue this is in direct conflict with freedom of speech, where one should not and cannot be censored online because of their societal, political or cultural opinions.

When you upload your passport, your selfie and your driving license - you are giving away way more than what the website needs to check. If the website needs to know your age, there is no reason why it should know your passport number too. But there has not been a better way - the passport (or any physical ID) is the only government issued secure ID. And the only way to verify a physical ID online is to click a picture of it and upload it.

There have been numerous breaches where these stored images are leaked. So, if you are uploading your documents, they're likely going to leaked. It's a matter of "when", not "if".

So, we need ID checks that satisfy the requirement the website has - in compliance with all the regulations that apply - and yet, is strongly privacy preserving.

Reclaim Protocol is the solution. Reclaim Protocol lets users login into their government portal and generate a zero knowledge proof of their identity, without leaking the private information.

We need your help

Most countries have government websites which is an authoritative source of one's identity - name, age, citizenship etc. We need your help to convert those websites into a provider - that can be used by online services to run checks in a privacy preserving manner. Many countries have multiple such web-portals.

A provider is a configuration that helps Reclaim Protocol generate a zero-knowledge proof of the identity of the logged in user. But for that we'd need to know what is the structure of the page, what do the responses from this website look like. Some basic reverse-engineering.

We have the technology, but not the login credentials. Obviously. So we'd like your help in reverse engineering this. We have built a tool for you : https://dev.reclaimprotocol.org/my-providers

Use this to create a provider for your country's national portal. Submit the provider you have created here : (Coming soon).

Earn a gift card!

For every accepted provider we will send you a gift card! And we will add that portal to the list of accepted verification sources that anybody in your country can use to verify themselves on numerous websites.
